10/10/2016 A survey was sent to all employees and students by Provost Lane Earns to gather campus feedback regarding the features that are most useful. The survey responses are due October 14 by 5:00pm.

Learning Management System (LMS)

The UW System contract with Desire2Learn (D2L) is currently set to expire June 30, 2018. Along with all the regional campuses, UW Oshkosh is participating in requirements gathering, the development of Requests For Proposals (RFP), as well as the evaluation and selection of the winning proposals. The first RFP is for the collaboration tool. The second RFP will be for the Learning Management System (LMS). We expect the process to take many months, with a final decision due by May 2017. We will then begin implementation and migration of existing courses into the new system, a process that may take 12-18 months starting in the summer of 2017. D2L is expected to submit a proposal for their new cloud-based version of D2L, which if selected will still be a significant change for users. The campus community will be engaged in this process as it moves forward.

Email from Provost Lane Earns:

UW System has requested the following information from students, faculty and staff on all System campuses.

What do you like about D2L or other learning management systems (LMS)?  D2L is the LMS currently used by our campus. UW System is soliciting your feedback about the types of features you find useful as an instructor or student in these types of online environments. UW System is investigating whether or not to keep or change the LMS. As part of this process, it is developing an RFP (Request for Proposal) for a system-wide learning environment.

This survey is designed to obtain a general basis of information without attempting to reflect all the complexity of possible use cases. Please do the best you can to answer the questions, even though an exact match for your situation may not necessarily be available.

The survey is accessible only by UWS employees and students through the following website: You can take the survey by clicking on the box in the left. The site also includes a short introductory video in you are interested. The time commitment is approximately 5 minutes. In order to become part of the RFP, the survey must be completed by October 14, 2016 at 5:00 pm. I am sorry for the short turn-around time.

Questions about the use case survey may be sent to
